The Natural Wonders of the State
If you want to get involved in Florida photography, you will have some of the most beautiful naturally scenery to choose from.
Florida is a vast state, with hundreds of miles of coastline and lush, green forests and wetlands. You could take a picture a day and not see the same thing for a year, easily. Up in the Panhandle, there are wonderful cypress forests, towering majestic wonders of nature.
If you head south, down along the Gulf Coast, there are the natural harbors of Tampa Bay, Charlotte Harbor and the picturesque barrier islands of Longboat Key, Siesta Key, and Manasota Key (to name only a few). Do you want a really good spot for some Florida photography?
Nothing says “Florida” as much as the Everglades, Miami Beach and Key West. I have heard it said, though not confirmed it, that the City of Miami actually pays a man to take pictures of people on the beach as a way of promoting the city. So, how do I get his job? Now there is Florida photography!
Sights to See
Of course, nature may not be your thing. Well, that is fine; because Florida has got it covered, no matter what your interest. You can take some Florida photography in historic St. Augustine, oldest European settlement in North America.
Up in the Panhandle is the state capital, home to many beautiful old buildings. Down along the Gulf Coast, in places like Punta Gorda, there are many lovely old homes, some dating back to antebellum times. In Fort Myers, you can visit and take pictures of the Edison Home.
Why, in that one location alone, you could take a dozen different pictures! Talk about Florida photography!
Further south, there are the Florida Keys, a string of islands that are home to many parks and historic buildings; among them, Hemingway’s Home. Out beyond the Keys are the Dry Tortugas.
Granted, it is quite a trip to get there, but the islands are home to historic Fort Jefferson, famed as the prison that housed Dr. Mudd, the man who treated John Wilkes Booth.
Now, the historic may not be your cup of tea. No worries there; there are ample opportunities for some Florida photography of the more modern type. Two words are just about synonymous with Florida: Walt Disney.
There is the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Disney/MGM, to name only the Disney parks. Beyond that, Orlando also has Universal Studios and Sea World. Between them, you have enough places to take pictures for a year.
And, let us not forget the Kennedy Space Center. This is where humanity has undertaken some of the greatest journeys of discovery. Well, there are plenty of places to take pictures there too.
So, it is easy to see that Florida photography encompasses the natural, the historic, the beautiful, and all that man can create – from the historic to the high-tech.
